WhatsApp Verification Without Your Own Phone Number

WhatsApp ties your account to a phone number forever, shows that number to every contact, and blocks more virtual numbers than any other service. It is still very doable — WhatsApp is the most-verified service on XeroSMS by a wide margin — but it rewards doing things in the right order.

The setup that works

1. Buy a WhatsApp number on the SMS page. Pick a country with a high success rate; stock and rates are shown live on each country.
2. Install WhatsApp Business rather than the regular app. It runs the same network with the same features, and in practice verifies far more reliably with virtual numbers.
3. Before requesting the code, connect through a proxy in the same country as your number. WhatsApp compares your connection to the number; matching them noticeably improves delivery.

Keeping the account alive
